I am a little behind on this one due to my current travels in Europe. I had the pleasure of participating in the Lotus Collaboration Summit at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City last week. At the event Steve Mills, IBM Senior Vice President Software Division and Mike Rhodin, the Lotus GM outlined IBM’s vision for the collaboration market.

Lotus also made a number of interesting announcements, including:

  • Rebirth of Lotus Symphony – Lotus is now offering a free OpenOffice implementation in Eclipse
  • Lotus Notes Traveler – providing wireless push for Notes email, calendaring and contacts
  • Lotus Notes onDemand – offering Notes 8 as a hosted service for Enterprises up to 10,000 seats
  • Sametime V8 – offering four different product flavors (entry, standard, advanced and unified telephony)
  • Sametime Unyte – Lotus’ new web conferencing solution based on the recent acquisition of webdialogs

and more…
